# Software Factory

> Turn board issues into reviewed pull requests, on your machine or on Mutagent Cloud.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Early Access.** Commands and behavior can change between releases.

The Software Factory turns your board issues into reviewed pull requests. Each stage runs as an
agent session. Run it locally with [Architech](https://docs.mutagent.io/architech/overview.md) or on Mutagent Cloud.

One agent plans, another builds, a third reviews. By default, you approve the plan and the merge.

## What you configure

One file, `.architech/factory/factory.yaml`, describes your board, repositories and policies.
Commit it. [Onboarding](https://docs.mutagent.io/architech/onboard.md) writes it in local mode when you pick a board. Review it
before you use it on Cloud.

>
> Work from an Architech session in your project. You drive planned work through the
> orchestrator and its agents. Start with `mode: local`.

> **[Run on Mutagent Cloud](https://docs.mutagent.io/factory/cloud.md)**
>
> Stages run in sandboxes, and agents reach GitHub through the GitHub App. You turn on board
> pickup, watch runs, and answer approvals and questions. Pushing the file to Cloud sets
> `mode: cloud`.

Cloud runs use your workspace's model providers. A local Factory is not a self-hosted Mutagent
Cloud.
